rotrob is a Technische Universität Berlin spin-off

The first prototype Marvin Mark I was developed during a student project at Technische Universität Berlin from 1997 to 2000. The goal of this project was to win the Millenial IARC (International Aerial Robotics Competetion) of the AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International) AUVSI Award.

MARVIN Mark II was part of the COMETS project which was funded by the European Community. The project's main objective was to design and implement a distributed control system for cooperative activities using heterogeneous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles such as helicopters and airships. This led to the development of a redesigned Marvin MkII version at TU Berlin, which was also based on the MARVIN S14 airframe. The COMETS project ended in 2005.

In 2007 we started a project to develop a helicopter prototype which can carry up to 20 kg of payload and is intended for commercial application. This prototype was called MARVIN Mark III (MARVIN L40 airframe). This project was hosted by the TU-Berlin and supported by the EXIST program which is funded by the European Union and the German BMBF.

With the end of this project rotrob was founded, to finish the development of MARVIN MkIII and offer system integration for UAV helicopters.
